If you are on LinkedIn - I was more than astonished to have my good ⁣ friend, philosophy mentor and coach, Dr Nikos Patedakis, who is based in⁣ California, write some reflections about my ecological art practice ⁣ following my recent article in the US Minding Nature journal. (See link in bio)⁣ ⁣ Perhaps it⁣ was the title of the journal that prompted his reflections. Nikos' ⁣ mentoring, which has helped me, offers deep understandings and practices⁣ from philosophy, spiritual traditions and new advances in behavioural ⁣ neuroscience, to invite us to consider that how we 'mind' nature - is ⁣ key to creativity that is good for ourselves, others and the world. ⁣ ⁣ If you are interested in exploring how your work - whether it's in ⁣ business, education, government or the arts - can serve in these ⁣ uncertain times, you may wish to see his website. Thank you, Nikos, for ⁣ helping me understand how we can employ compassionate thinking to ⁣ develop wellbeing and creativity! - "True success means the fulfillment ⁣ of our highest potential. This can only come when we stop getting in our⁣ own way. It involves an expansion of our ecology of mind."
Ooooh, so excited to get this mail from the US today. I know I shared the #online @hollywood_forest story and #ecosocialartpractice for the #Symbiocene journal #article some weeks back, but super thrilled to see my @hollywood_forest story, ‘the little wood that could’ in #PRINT as #firsttimeauthor , and it came with a big cheque, like a real published author, like! Link to article and more in Bio. . Many thanks to all who supported my cultural work for forests over the years, especially @lithicworks @malcolmnoonan @marycarty , @clasheen and @alandesprice you are mentioned and thanks @gwen_wilkinson for photos when I just started. . . Thanks to all the editors @humansandnature too. . #culturedeclares #Ireland #Carlow #ecologicalart #ecoliteracy #learnecoart
An Architecture lecturer invited me to speak to year 3 architecture students in #Cork city yesterday on #ecoliteracy. . I was asked to give a summary talk for the end of their first term on how ecological insights present a #paradigmshift for modern society as our dominant cultural misperceptions positions humanity as superior to and alienated from the living world. . . Spun through slides from Gilgamesh to the Enlightenment to explain the #atrocities #great-acceleration #ecocide #endgame of the #anthropocene. Then shared my research on an alternative, the #Symbiocene which I presented through my continuous cover forestry @hollywood_forest Story #eco-socialartpractice.I ended with new film 🎞 #solastalgia that ends with #fallinginlovewiththeEarthagain #soliphilia . Such thoughtful engaged students - encouraged them to work to create memes for the Symbiocene in their designs - it’s a daunting future but we will need Earth-aligned creativity as never before. .. Architectural students also well skilled to work collaboratively, ecologically. Delighted to share some new philosophical terms, ideas and ecological art practices too. Thanks so much all!
Grateful thanks 🙏 to Profs Karen Till & Gerry Kearns, @Maynooth Dr Nessa Cronin Irish Studies @NUIG for organising the first #earthwritings ecocultute #exhibition & #symposia today. Also thanks to other artists, Pauline O’Connell, Seoidin O’Sullivan and Monica De Bath, @CreativeIre and Lucina at Kildare Arts Office. I’m sharing my story about the smallest continuous cover forest in Ireland. Big shout out to all my Pro Silva and #green #tribe :) @eamonryan @malcolmnoonan . #loveirishresearch #symbiocene #ecologicalart #socialart #ecosocialartpractice #prosilva #forests #newdirections #culturedeclares #continuouscoverfirestry @boucherhayes

I had such a wonderful time on Saturday 2 November 2019, giving my first Essential Ecoliteracy for the Arts workshop for creative people and art teachers in Rathanna village, Co. Carlow, Ireland. You can listen to a short radio interview with Rachel Andrews @RTElyricfm SEE link in Bio Developing this workshop has been a long-held wish of mine since I suggested the need for urgent ecoliteracy for the Irish arts sector, at the conclusion of my PhD thesis, when I submitted it back in 2016. Sharing ecoliteracy with other creatives is part of how I am contributing as an Irish signatory to the international @CultureDeclares emergency campaign. I will be offering an online version of the course in January 2020 and other workshops too. You are welcome to follow my blog for updates, queries or share this course news with others. #rteclimateweek @boucherhayes #learnecoart #artphd #phdchat #workshop #onlinecourse #gregorybateson #sociallyengagedart #compassion #expandedpractice #joannamacy #culturedeclaresemergency #ecoliteracy #ecoart #anthropocene #climatechange #ecologicalart #environmentalart #ecoart #symbiocene #artstudents #ecosocialartpractice #natureart #earthart #culturedeclares #theleveragedphd #musicdeclares #phdthesis #socialsculpture #activist
